Mego Employment is actively seeking a skilled Quality Technician to play a key role in our client’s laboratory operations. As a Quality Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the advancement of critical technologies.

Our client is a distinguished manufacturing company in Plymouth with a legacy spanning over 75 years. Serving industries such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Energy, Medical, Oil and Gas, and High-Performance sectors, the company maintains an exceptional standard of service.

This role entails a rotating 3-shift pattern (Earlies: 6 am – 2 pm, Backs: 2 pm – 10 pm, Nights: 10 pm – 6 am) from Monday to Friday.

Job Specification:

  • Operate safely, identifying and addressing safety concerns, and participate in culture and performance improvement programs.
  • Contribute to a self-managed team environment.
  • Conduct recognized tests on specimens, reporting results promptly.
  • Operate mechanical test equipment in accordance with customer and international standards.
  • Prepare specimens for timely microstructural analysis, ensuring accurate data recording.
  • Utilize Information Systems for report generation and communications.
  • Prepare data for routine analysis, trials, and diagnostic interpretation reports.
  • Utilize statistical tools and engage in team exercises to enhance laboratory and business operations.
  • Mentor and coach non-technical personnel in operational performance.
  • Ad-hoc overtime may be required to support seasonal business changes.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English is desirable.
  • Experience in a high-throughput laboratory with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Practical knowledge of operating analytical equipment and problem-solving skills for equipment-related issues.
  • Interpersonal skills for interpreting data and communicating operational changes to reset equipment.
